Saving Money by Watching Films For Less

Chances are if you're reading this you are looking to save money on your film watching habbits.

First, lets start with Sky Movies. Sky Movies is an ok service, but ridiculously overpriced. For example, Sky Movies provided through Sky will cost you at least ฃ17 per month - that's a staggering ฃ204 a year! and Sky Movies provided through Virgin Media will cost you at least ฃ18 per month - that's a staggering ฃ216 a year!

Not only is it expensive, but it lacks a great choice of movies. Have you ever noticed that the same movies are repeated over and over again for weeks on end? That it is difficult to find something different to watch? In effect you are probably splashing out over ฃ200 a year to watch only a small number of films.

You have to ask yourself if it is really worth it. Going to the cinema probably costs ฃ15 per visit and you are getting to see brand new films as and when they come out. It would take you about 15 cinema trips to equal the cost of Sky Movies. How many movies do you honestly watch on Sky? 15 a year, possibly? 15 brand new films that are not repeated week-in, week-out? Probably not.

Then there's the alternative of DVD rentals. High street DVD rentals cost about ฃ3 per night, not to mention the late fee for not having it back the next day.

Online DVD rentals however cost as little as ฃ3.99 a month. That works out at a saving of over ฃ150 a year from Sky Movies. Definitely worth it. Especially when you consider you can get unlimited rentals, no minimum subscription period (unlike with Sky Movies) and no late fees (unlike your High Street shops). I've tried various online DVD rental sites and have finally found one I'm happy with. It has over 65,000 DVD's to offer - that's every available film in the UK. I bet you whatever you like that that is better than Sky Movies and the cinema. Oh, and it's a fraction of the cost too.
